Dear Pat,

I received the airfare reimbursement; thanks.

My oral exam is scheduled for May 19, so by definition I will have a first draft 
of my thesis ready before then. At the moment, I have a few chapters in rough
form. I'm sending them to you now, in case you'd like to look them over 
(for the text you're writing, and also to provide feedback to me).
Criticism is encouraged!

There is no overview chapter as of yet; your memory of my talk will probably
suffice. Chapter 2 contains an introductory example. The next few chapters
deal with the control structure and representation in great detail.
The discussion, conclusions, appendices, etc. are not written yet.

If you think of a better title, I'm still open for suggestions.
